Day 6: Match 2

We turned up at Bergsig school to play a local township team. All the boys (and girls) from Bergsig came down to cheer us on. When the township team turned up they looked very very young. I spoke to their coach who assured me they were under 15 (what I didnt realise was they were under 15 by 3 years). He had brought along a group of 12-13 year olds who were tiny!!

Without wanting to offend their coach I said we cant play them - but he assured me they would be fine - "looks can be decieving" he told me.

As it turned out looks werent decieving and we ran in three tries in 2 minutes without them laying a finger on us. It was clear that the lads were way out of their depth and didnt have a clue about how to play rugby. Despite this they were having a whale of a time running round the pitch chasing our lads. The MFG boys didnt know what to do as they didnt want to hurt them.

At this point I called a close to the farce and we decided to let them have a mess a round game for 20 minutes and then the team from Bergsig, who beat us 13-3 earlier in the week, would have a rematch with us.

The MFG boys were great and let the township kids have a game where they ran around and we let them score a try which got the biggest cheer of the day. They all had a lot of fun before the real match got underway.
